RF AMPLIFIERS >> BUILDING AN RF AMPLIFIER IN LINEAR A CLASS

RF transmitting transistor and power amplifier fundamentals

Power amplifier design

Example for 5 W TV amplifier in A class 470 MHz- 860 MHz

Amplifier must be installed on the heat sink large enough to dissipate the heat from transistor. BLW98 transistor for ex. needs 26 V DC supply with a constant current of 1 A. The complete board must be installed in the metal - tuner type box, completely shielded with a lid (top cover) With 800 mW of RF input power CW this amplifier was able to give 4 W output power. 1.1W input power will give over 5 W of RF output power.
